New EU VAT rules and how they will affect my customers living in EU countries
As of 1 July 2021, new rules will come into force regarding the way that VAT is charged on items sold to EU customers. This means that VAT will be charged to EU customers on all online purchases, irrespective of their value. From now on, if I sell to you via www.shinyshortzryan.com , there is a risk that your order might be delayed at customs, in order for VAT and handling charges to be added on. These fees will then need to be paid by you in person via the postal delivery company in your country.
Here is a link to explain the changes that will take place as of 1 July 2021:

I would therefore suggest that EU customers use my Ebay listings where possible, as Ebay is able to deal with all of the relevant VAT, customs and handling fees. If you choose to buy through this route, then the shipment should reach you without delay, as you will have already paid the relevant fees at the time of the transaction. The additional charges levied to you through this channel are unfortunately quite high relative to the cost of the purchase.
Here is my new proposed solution (as of November 2021)...
If you want items from www.shinyshortzryan.com that you can't find in my Ebay listings, just put them in your cart and send me a screengrab or pdf copy of it. I will then make the item(s) in the usual way, list them on Ebay for you and send you the link so you can buy through that route. Ebay will charge you the relevant VAT at the checkout and will deal with all of the VAT compliance hassle for which I don't have the time.
The customs authorities in your home country will possibly inspect the parcel as it crosses the border, calculate any additional fees that are due as per the total value of your order, and require you to pay these fees before releasing the parcel to you. (There are usually no extra fees to pay, so this is rarely a problem, and they may not inspect the parcel at all, of course, in which case you will be lucky!)
The same applies for bespoke items that you want to order by email or social media with me. Just tell me what you want, I can make it and then list it on Ebay for you to buy.

My offer to you to compensate for this inconvenience...
To offset the VAT charges that you will incur if you live in an EU country, you can apply to me below for a personalised reusable discount code which will be set at the equivalent of your country's VAT rate. So, if you normally have to pay 19% VAT where you live, the code that I generate for you will give you a 19% discount on your future purchases (minimum spend applies).
CONDITIONS
- Your billing address must be within an EU country.
- You can apply for your discount code after making a purchase with me, any time from 13 June 2021.
- The discount code will work indefinitely for all of your future orders on www.shinyshortzryan.com totalling £80GBP or more.
- Only one discount code can be used at a time. (Do check out my News & Offers page in case there are alternative offers currently available which might prove to be more cost-effective for you.)
- The discount code cannot be used directly on my Ebay page. Only apply it if you are putting items in your cart on the www.shinyshortzryan.com site. (I will provide alternative multi-buy and postage discounts for purchases made directly from my existing Ebay listings.)
- You may only use the discount code yourself. Please don't share it with others, as this will mean that I have to invalidate it.
- If you have friends who wish to get a code for themselves, they may do so by making an initial purchase and applying below - just send them the link to this page.
