My Sizes

As we all know, one man's Large is another man's Small... Providing a made-to-measure service for online buyers is always going to be a challenge for this reason. However, I like to get it right, so I have created some albums showing my typical sizings for you to browse and double check before ordering.

A note about my sizes

Through trial and error, I have settled on the sizes that you can see to the right and in the photo albums above as they meet the expectations of the vast majority of my customers. However, I am fully aware that body shapes differ, so whilst a pair of shorts may fit perfectly at the waist, they could be too tight around the leg, for example, or be too long/short for you from the waistband to the crotch.

To avoid this problem, please do make your own measurements at home and let me know if you want me to alter my pattern in any way for your order. I will do this at no extra expense (within reason!) 

To avoid confusion, it's particularly useful to me if you take some pictures of your own best-fitting pair of shorts, using a tape measure, just like the ones in the albums above. If you send me the pictures, I should be able to replicate them as closely as possible.

Please bear in mind that different fabrics and elastic in particular can behave unpredictably at times during the sewing process, meaning that the finished item can be a little bigger or smaller than envisaged at the start. Therefore, if it is important to you that certain aspects of the design are very accurate, please tell me and I will take extra care to stick to your requirements as I work.

I will accept returns of shorts with sizing errors, provided they are returned at the buyer's expense in perfect condition. Please bear in mind, however, that each pair of shorts takes me up to 2 hours to make from start to finish, so I'd always rather get it right first time!

Unstretched waistband measurement = approx 30" (76cm)
Fully stretched waistband measurement = approx 42" (107cm)

Unstretched waistband measurement = approx 33" (84cm)
Fully stretched waistband measurement = approx 45" (114cm)

The unstretched measurement equates to the length of elastic that I use. This is easily altered. Just ask me if you want less elastic for a tighter fit or more for a looser fit.
